How to play Lucian
Read the full guide
Play by the Lucian rule “dash for the next passive, not for distance”: short Es after your double-shot starts keep the string alive and help refund E, while big opener dashes often cut your own combo short
In lane, make them respect Q through the wave first, then use E to extend the trade, dodge the answer, or buy the next passive cycle; if you dash first every time, Lucian stops feeling like Lucian
Lucian wants his first component early enough that one Q through the wave plus a passive weave actually sticks, because he drops off harder than peer ADCs when that timing slips and his early leads age quickly once fights get long and tidy
Start by assuming you do not need to dash yet. If you already have Q through the wave, an auto, or support CC creating the trade, walk first and see what answer they give you. E is best when it either keeps your passive chain going, sidesteps the spell that would end the trade, or turns a small health lead into one more clean double-shot. In lane, that usually means dashing after damage has started, not to begin it. In fights, use it once the target is already committed or pinned, so the dash changes the angle of your next passive instead of announcing yourself early.
Whenever Lucian uses an ability, his next attack becomes a double-shot. When Lucian is healed or shielded by an ally, or when a nearby enemy Champion is immobilized, his next 2 basic attacks will deal bonus magic damage.
Lucian shoots a bolt of piercing light through a target.
Lucian shoots a missile that explodes in a star shape, marking and briefly revealing enemies. Lucian gains Move Speed for attacking marked enemies.
Lucian quickly dashes a short distance. Lightslinger attacks reduce Relentless Pursuit's cooldown.
Lucian unleashes a torrent of shots from his weapons.
