How to play Shaco
Read the full guide
The Shaco-specific setup to remember is first box starts the panic, second box gets the kill: place W for the juke or flash path instead of only the first contact, and use R to make the enemy throw the first real spell at the wrong body
Treat E as the receipt, not the opener — stay on them with passive slow and backstabs, then throw Shiv when they are actually leaving or already low instead of cashing it at first touch
Route toward one believable trick before camps even start, keep farming between appearances, and do not panic if the opener is quiet, because recent data says Shaco is less chained to first blood and early lane kills than similar assassin junglers
If the first invade fails, stop trying to repair it with another coinflip. Reset your route, clear the camps that keep your next appearance believable, and look for the lane where you can arrive from a side angle instead of through vision. Your next play should usually be smaller: a three-camp re-entry, a countergank, or a box on the escape path rather than a straight all-in. Around river or your own jungle entrances, sit on the walk-in instead of the objective itself, and let the enemy be the one who has to step first. That keeps the game slippery enough for Shaco to matter again.
Shaco's basic attacks and Two-Shiv Poison deal additional damage when striking from behind.
Shaco becomes Invisible and teleports to target location. His first attack while Invisible is empowered, dealing bonus damage and critically striking if he attacks from behind.
Shaco creates a hidden animated Jack-in-the-Box. When triggered, it will fear and attack nearby enemies.
Shaco's Shivs passively poison targets on hit, slowing their Move Speed. He can throw his Shivs to deal damage and poison the target. The thrown Shiv deals bonus damage if the target is below 30% health.
Shaco creates an illusion of himself near him, which can attack nearby enemies (Deals reduced damage to turrets). Upon death, it explodes, spawning three mini Jack in the Boxes and dealing damage to nearby enemies.
